Acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Sara Watkins stars in the latest installment of NPR Music’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert. Watkins is joined by band mates Davíd Garza on guitar and Alan Hampton at a set she created in her backyard that includes a “magic desk” for their first performances of songs from her recently released Under The Pepper Tree album.
Under The Pepper Tree is a family-friendly album featuring a pair of originals and 13 covers. The trio opened their Tiny Desk (Home) Concert set with “Tumbling Tumbleweeds,” a song originally recorded by Roy Rogers & Sons Of The Pioneers.

Sara went on to discuss the “magic desk” and how rare it is for the trio to perform together before offering a take on Harry Nilsson’s “Blanket For A Sail.” Watkins then spoke about the genesis of Under The Pepper Tree. Watkins, Garza and Hampton continued with the LP’s title track and closed out their Tiny Desk (Home) Concert set with Rogers & Hammerstein’s “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and the original “Night Singing.”
