This Friday, March 26, singer-songwriter Sara Watkins shares her latest studio album, Under The Pepper Tree, via New West Records. Today, Parade Magazine premiered the video for Under The Pepper Tree track “Tumbling Tumbleweeds,” which finds Watkins joined by her I’m With Her bandmates — Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O’Donovan.
The 15-track follow-up to 2016’s Young In All The Wrong Ways features two originals and a collection of family-friendly covers. Included within are Sara’s takes on such songs as The Beatles’ “Good Night,” the traditional “Moon River,” “Blue Shadows on the Trail” from the 1986 film The Three Amigos and “Pure Imagination” from 1971’s Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.

In addition to Jarosz and O’Donovan, Under The Pepper Tree features contributions from Sara’s Nickel Creek bandmates Chris Thile and Sean Watkins as well as David Garza, Taylor Goldsmith and more. “Tumbling Tumbleweeds” was originally recorded by Roy Rogers & Sons Of The Pioneers.
“It was a delight to get to sing this old favorite of mine with two of my favorite people, Sarah Jarosz and Aoife O’Donovan,” Watkins told Parade. “On a personal level, I spent the first two years of my daughter’s life on the road with them (and Aoife with her daughter as well) and though my daughter will not remember that time, I will never forget the support and strength that they gave me as I was a new mother.” Sara’s daughter teams with her mom on Under The Pepper Tree track “Edelweiss” from The Sound Of Music.
