Sabrina Carpenter Brings Out Earth, Wind & Fire At Lollapalooza

Sabrina Carpenter enlisted one of Chicago’s most famous bands for a surprise appearance last night during her headlining set at Lollapalooza. Earth, Wind & Fire performed two of their biggest hits, “Let’s Groove” and “September,” with the pop star at Grant Park.

The unexpected collaboration came in the middle of Carpenter’s set on the T-Mobile main stage on the final night of the four-day music festival. Sabrina spoke to the massive audience before welcoming the iconic band and recalled her first performance in Chicago, which was played in front of a mere 300 people. She then thanked her fans for the mammoth rise of her career and allowing her to perform on the main stage.

“Does anyone want to dance tonight?” Carpenter asked the crowd. “I thought it would be really really fun if I could bring out some friends for you guys and we could just let loose, we could just groove,” the singer said as her touring band and members of Earth, Wind & Fire lit into “Let’s Groove.”

Sabrina Carpenter and Earth, Wind & Fire shared vocal duties on the band’s 1981 hit. “Should we do another one?” Carpenter alerted fans ahead of a transition into “September.” Carpenter took a verse of the 1979 smash and danced along with EWF. “I’m gonna join the band, guys!” the pop star shouted.

Sabrina Carpenter will follow appearances at the Austin City Limits Music Festival with a fall run of Short N' Sweet Tour dates at North American arenas. Carpenter’s next studio album, Man’s Best Friend, arrives on August 29.
