Pink Floyd co-founding bassist Roger Waters brought his Us + Them World Tour to Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Monday night for the first of two shows. Waters gave the audience the tour’s usual mix of Pink Floyd classics and solo gems. He took a moment to address the anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and showed off the newest addition to his touring band, a member of My Morning Jacket.

My Morning Jacket keyboardist Bo Koster has temporarily joined Roger’s band to replace the injured Drew Erickson. Koster recently jumped on tour and there’s no word about how long he’ll stay in Waters’ employ. MMJ served as Waters’ backing band on a couple of occasions, most recently at the 2016 Bridge School Benefit Concerts.

Waters opened with a selection of six Pink Floyd songs including “Breathe” and “Great Gig In The Sky.” Next up was a run of four songs from his recent solo effort, Is This The Life We Really Want? The bassist finished the first set with “Wish You Were Here” followed by “The Happiest Days Of Our Lives” and “Another Brick In The Wall Part 2 & 3.” Roger’s second set was chock full of Pink Floyd gems starting with a focus on Animals including “Dogs” and “Pigs (Three Different Ones).” Next up was “Money” and “Us & Them” ahead of “Smell The Roses” off the new LP and a set-closing sequence of “Brain Damage” > “Eclipse.”

Roger Waters began his encore with “Vera” and then took to the mic to address the solemn anniversary. “This is a very sad anniversary for a lot of people in this town and we feel for the families of all the innocent people who were killed that day 16 years ago. And also for the first responders who died since from the diseases they got from working,” Roger said. “And also the hundreds of thousands, even millions of people in the rest of the world who’ve died since that day because of what happened and our responses to it. So let our hearts be with all the innocent people all around the world whoever they might be, whatever their ethnicity or their color or religion,” Waters concluded.

The bassist and his band went on to finish the show with “Bring The Boys Back Home” and “Comfortably Numb.” Roger Waters returns to the Barclays Center on Tuesday night.
