Steve Lacy unveiled his first new song in three years, “Nice Shoes.” The experimental track previews Oh Yeah?, the highly anticipated follow-up to the rapper’s 2022 LP, Gemini Rights.

“Nice Shoes” was written and produced by Steve Lacy with additional production and writing help from Nick Weiss (Nightfeelings) and Matthew Castellanos. The Grammy-winning musician referred to the song “a ‘trailer’ for this new moment in his career,” while speaking with Rolling Stone. While a release date for Oh Yeah? has not been announced, Rolling Stone revealed Lacy’s third album is “slated to drop in the near future.”

Steve Lacy self-produced Oh Yeah?, which finds the musician dabbling with the use of synthesizers. “Sonically, the album is adventurous, diving into sounds like trip-hop and electronic while also building classic rock ballads fit for stadiums and arenas,” wrote Rolling Stone’s Jeff Ihaza.

“This one has taken a lot of time and thought,” Lacy added of his forthcoming album. “I keep using the word ‘design.’ It feels like fully designing a new language for myself.”
