Robbie Robertson, Marcus King & Ringo Starr Contribute To Playing For Change’s ‘The Weight’
The Band guitarist Robbie Robertson, The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr and The Marcus King Band guitarist Marcus King are among those who recorded “The Weight” for the latest Playing For Change video. Playing For Change brings musicians from across the world together to “break down the boundaries and overcome distances between people.”
Playing For Change organizers recruited musicians from across five continents for the rendition of The Band’s classic from 1968’s Music From The Big Pink. Larkin Poe, Lukas Nelson, John Cruz, Hutch Hutchinson, Robin Moxey and Taimane joined Starr, Robertson and King in recording parts for “The Weight” at various locations in the U.S. Additionally, Roberto Luti filmed his part in Italy, Char and Keiko Komaki recorded in Japan, Mermans Mosengo recorded in the Congo, Ali Boulala and Ahmed Al Harmi recorded in Bahrain, Sol Homar recorded in Spain, Rajeev Shrestha and Sanjay Shrestha recorded in Nepal, Sherieta Lewis and Roselyn Williams recorded in Jamaica and Chango Spasiuk recorded in Argentina.
