Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr scrapped the final dates of his North American tour after testing positive for a rebound COVID-19 case. Starr announced his initial COVID diagnosis on October 3 but on Monday shared he was testing negative and took the stage with his All-Starr Band in Seattle on Tuesday and in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday.
“I’m sure you’ll be as surprised as I was I tested positive again for Covid,” wrote Starr in a note shared Thursday on his social feeds. “The rest of the tour is off I send you peace and love Ringo,” added the drummer.
Ringo’s latest All-Starr Band lineup found him joined on the road by Edgar Winter, Steve Lukather (Toto), Gregg Bissonette (David Lee Roth), Hamish Stewart (Average White Band), Colin Hay (Men At Work) and Warren Ham (Kansas). A string of cancelations started with a performance originally scheduled for Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota on Sunday, October 2. The show was called off due to illness with a note proclaiming “Ringo does not have COVID-19.” Starr tested positive the following day and canceled a five-show run through Canada spanning October 4 through 9.
The tour has been riddled with cancelations dating back to June, when Ringo Starr postponed a series of shows after Edgar Winter and Steve Lukather tested positive for COVID. Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band were supposed to play the California cities of San Jose tonight, Paso Robles tomorrow and Los Angeles on Sunday. A two-night stand in Mexico City on October 19 and 20 were set to close out the run. No word yet on whether the shows will be rescheduled.
