Three days after launching their first tour in 17 years, Rilo Kiley headed home to Los Angeles on Thursday for an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The recently reunited band offered a stirring performance of “Silver Lining” on the Kimmel stage augmented by a trio of backing vocalists.

Frontwoman Jenny Lewis and bandmates bassist Pierre de Reeder, guitarist Blake Sennett and drummer Jason Boesel are on the road for their Sometimes When You’re On You’re Really F**king On Tour. Rilo Kiley hasn’t brought any new material to the table as of yet. Instead, the quartet has performed songs from the four full-length studio albums they released between 2001 and 2007.

Rilo Kiley parted ways in 2011 and hadn’t performed together since 2008 before the start of their current trek. Twenty-two more dates lie ahead for the band’s Sometimes When You’re On You’re Really F**king On Tour, which is scheduled to end in September.

The tender “Silver Lining” opens Rilo Kiley’s most recent record, 2007’s Under The Blacklight. The group last appeared on late-night television while they were promoting the LP. Lewis sang the tale of heartbreak with passion and precision bolstered by angelic harmonies from the additional vocalists, while Sennett played the melody and Boesel and de Reeder anchored the beat.
