Report: Electric Forest Organizers Looking To Expand To Two Weekends In 2017

Will the 2017 installment of Electric Forest be expanded to two weekends? If a report from The Festive Owl holds true and permits are approved, this will indeed by the case. As per The Festive Owl, “[Organizers have] submitted permits to hold back to back weekend festivals in 2017. One source saying that the permits have ‘been signed’ and discussion among city council is ‘happening now but fully expect it to be approved.'”
Electric Forest’s roots trace back to the Rothbury Music Festival which was also held at the Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, Michigan in 2008 and 2009. Rothbury wasn’t held in 2010 and Electric Forest debuted in 2011 and has been held each summer since. The 2016 installment sold out quickly and featured The String Cheese Incident, Bassnectar, the Disco Biscuits, STS9 and many others. As Relix points out, an approval to organizers’ plans isn’t a sure thing as they have had their struggle with the local government in the past.
