Watch Reed Mathis & Trevor Garrod Cover Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘America’

The pair delivered the gorgeous version of the Simon & Garfunkel classic during a performance held in San Rafael, California last month.

Former Tea Leaf Green bandmates Reed Mathis and Trevor Garrod teamed up for a performance at Cash’s Crib in San Rafael, California on November 20. Video featuring the pair’s cover of the Simon & Garfunkel classic “America” from the set was recently shared on Mathis’ YouTube page.

While Mathis is best known for his skills on the bass, he played electric guitar in accompanying Garrod on “America.” Trevor handled lead vocals and Reed turned in a gorgeous guitar solo for the song from Simon & Garfunkel’s Bookends LP. Reed Mathis is no stranger to the music of Paul Simon as he put together The Paul Simon Bone Diggers project for occasional shows dating back to 2017.

The seven-minute “America” was filmed and edited by JamBase co-founder Andy Gadiel using audio recorded by Robert Cogswell and mastered by Mathis. Check out the stirring performance below:
