Ray LaMontagne will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his landmark 2005 debut album, Trouble, with a special tour. LaMontagne will perform the album in full at each stop of the run across North America spanning August 23 through October 4.
“Twenty years. Two Decades. That’s a lot of water under the bridge. Every cell in my body has changed three times over in that time. I have been three times reborn. There are moments in your life when you need to place a marker. Some people think that it is brave, or fearless, to never look back. I don’t believe that. For the simple reason that if you never look back you will never see how far you have come. This year I place a sign post: twenty years of Trouble,” LaMontagne wrote of his debut LP in a statement.

In addition to the tour, LaMontagne will commemorate the anniversary by releasing a remastered vinyl edition of Trouble on June 13. “When Trouble was initially released Vinyl was considered a dead format, never to breathe again. Digital audio was the new King. As we know this has proved untrue. Each year more and more music lovers are listening to Vinyl and appreciating it for its depth and breadth of sound, for its physical heft, for its tangible realness,” noted the Grammy-winning artist regarding the remastered vinyl.
“Over the past few months Brian Lee and Bob Jackson at Waygate Mastering have remastered the album for the first time specifically for Vinyl. And I have to say, it sounds incredible. They have managed to bring out subtleties in the vocals, the instrumentation, that were somehow lost previously. It sounds as if a sonic veil has been lifted. I cannot thank them enough,” added LaMontagne.
The tour kicks off on August 23 in Boise (Idaho) at the Morrison Center. LaMontagne then heads to Colorado for shows in Vail on August 26 and at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison on August 27. The tour continues through Omaha (Nebraska) on August 29, Highland Park (Illinois) on August 30 and Minneapolis on August 31.
September begins with performances in Iowa City (Iowa) on September 2 and St. Louis on September 3. LaMontagne will play two nights at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on September 5 and 6, followed by Columbus (Ohio) on September 7. The tour continues through Syracuse (New York) on September 9, Wilkes-Barre (Pennsylvania) on September 10, Selbyville (Delaware) on September 12, Philadelphia on September 13, and Vienna (Virginia) on September 14.
LaMontagne then heads to Durham (North Carolina) on September 16, Greenville (South Carolina) on September 17, Louisville on September 19, Detroit on September 20, and Akron (Ohio) on September 21. The Grammy winner will perform two nights at Toronto’s Massey Hall on September 23 and 24, followed by two shows in Boston on September 26 and 27, and two nights in Portland (Maine) on September 29 and 30. The tour concludes with three nights at New York City’s Beacon Theatre on October 2, 3, and 4.
