Radiohead launched their first tour since 2018 in Madrid on Tuesday. The acclaimed British band’s second of four concerts at the Spanish capital’s Movistar Arena on Wednesday featured a substantially different setlist from opening night.
Radiohead commenced with “2 + 2 = 5.” While the band played the Hail to the Thief cut the night before, Wednesday’s rendition marked the first time it appeared in the opening slot since 2004.
All told, the concert contained ten tour debuts: “The Bends,” “All I Need,” “Nude” (which boasted a new piano intro), “Reckoner,” “Airbag,” “Separator,” “Pyramid Song,” “Exit Music (for a Film),” “Street Spirit (Fade Out)” and “Present Tense.”
Frontman Thom Yorke also led the band throughIn Rainbows standout “Jigsaw Falling Into Place” and the buoyant Bends track “(Nice Dream)” for the first time since 2009. The encore got underway with “Let Down,” followed by “Happy Birthday To You” for guitarist Jonny Greenwood. The seven song-encore also included favorites “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi,” “Paranoid Android” and “Everything In Its Right Place.”
