Brokedown Podcast Honors Quicksilver Messenger Service

The latest episode of Brokedown Podcast, a member of the Osiris podcast network, pays tribute to seminal San Francisco psychedelic rock band Quicksilver Messenger Service. QMS guitarist Gary Duncan died on June 29 at age 72 after suffering a seizure.

Host Jonathan Hart starts by profiling recent guests, One Eleven Heavy, before getting into the Quicksilver tribute. Jonathan shares the story of the band’s formation and their place in music history. He then spins live tunes from 1967. Next, Hart discusses Gary Duncan’s 1991 appearances with the Grateful Dead and plays a big chunk of the second set from the Dead’s October 31, 1991.
