Punch Brothers shared a new single, “Orphan Annie.” The Norman Blake cover is set to land on the quintet’s upcoming Tony Rice tribute album, Hell On Chruch Street, due out on Janaury 14, 2022 via Nonesuch Records.

Punch Brothers detailed Hell On Chruch Street in September. The album sees Punch Brothers covering late great bluegrass guitarist Tony Rice’s entire 1983 LP, Church Street Blues, itself a covers album featuring songs by Bob Dylan, Bill Monroe, Gordon Lightfoot and more.

Church Street Blues also contains two songs by multi-instrumentalist (and Rice collaborator) Norman Blake, the title track — which Punch Brothers released as the lead single followed by Jimmie Rodgers “Any Old Time” — and the aforementioned “Orphan Annie.” The latter originally appears on Blake’s 1972 debut album Home In Sulphur Springs.
