Punch Brothers performed “Any Old Time” on Tuesday’s episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The Jimmie Rodgers cover appears on the quintet’s 2022 studio album, Hell On Church Street.

Hell On Church Street is a reimagination of late guitarist Tony Rice’s 1983 solo album, Church Street Blues. The group featuring mandolinist/vocalist Chris Thile, fiddler Gabe Witcher, banjoist Noam Pikelny, guitarist Chris Eldrige and bassist Paul Kowert recorded the 11-track follow-up to 2018’s All Ashore at Blackbird Studio in Nashville.

“No record (or musician) has had a greater impact on us, and we felt compelled to cover it in its entirety, with the objective of interacting with it in the same spirit of respect-fueled adventure that Tony brought to each of its pre-existing songs,” wrote Punch Brothers regarding Hell On Church Street in a statement.
