Dave Cobb was among the big winners at the Grammy Awards ceremony held earlier this week. The Nashville-based, in-demand producer and musician produced Jason Isbell’s acclaimed album Something More Than Free which won two Grammys and Cobb also produced Chris Stapleton’s lauded LP Traveller which also garnered two awards. For Saturday Stream get to know the impressive work Cobb contributed to in recent years with the 20-track Spotify Playlist below.
Cobb, who was also nominated for the Grammy Award for Producer Of The Year Non-Classical, has come into his own has a highly sought after studio whiz. He’s worked with Shooter Jennings and Jennings’ late father Waylon Jennings, as well as Chris Cornell, Sturgill Simpson, Nikki Lane, Rival Sons and others who are featured within the playlist.
This year will see the release of the concept album Southern Family curated by Cobb and set for release on March 18. The compilation, which focus on growing up in the South, features contributions by Shooter Jennings, Isbell, Stapleton, as well as Zac Brown, Jamey Johnson and several others. Included in the playlist are singles that have been issued from Southern Family by Morgane Stapleton, Anderson East, John Paul White and Miranda Lambert.
The Spotify Playlist also features Isbell’s Grammy Award for Best American Roots Song winning “24 Frames” and Stapleton’s Best Country Solo Performance winning “Traveller,” as well as a track from the just-released new Lake Street Dive record Side Pony. Give it a listen:
