Pro-Shot Video: Warren Haynes Performs ‘You Lie’ At Dr. John Tribute Concert

Blackbird Presents staged a tribute concert on May 3, 2014 at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans billed as “The Musical Mojo of Dr. John: A Celebration of Mac & His Music.” Set for a 2-CD/DVD and Blu-ray release on October 21, a preview of Warren Haynes rendition of “You Lie” from the all-star event honoring local legend Dr. John has been shared.

Haynes played with the house band directed by producer/arranger/bassist Don Was and featuring Chuck Leavell on keyboards, local pianist John Gros, Funky Meters guitarist Brian Stoltz, veteran drummer Kenny Aronoff, and Dr. John’s regular collaborator, trombonist Sarah Morrow. Additional performances that evening featured on the live album/DVD include Bruce Springsteen and Dr. John on “Right Place Wrong Time,” Anders Osborne and Bill Kreutzmann on “Somebody Changed The Lock,” Widespread Panic with Dirty Dozen Brass Band on “Familiar Reality,” Allen Toussaint on “Life,” Jason Isbell on “Blow Wind Blow,” Mavis Staples on “Lay My Burden Down,” John Fogerty on “New Orleans” and Leavell on “Traveling Mood.”
