We’re nearing the end of The 11th Annual Nolafunk Mardi Gras Ball & Tour featuring Voodoo Dead which pulled into the Philadelphia area on Saturday night for the first of two shows at the Ardmore Music Hall. A last-minute webcast of Saturday’s concert was shared by the venue and the incredible pro-shot footage is still available for our viewing and listening pleasure.
Voodoo Dead ’17 features guitarist Steve Kimock along with bassist Oteil Burbridge, drummer Wally Ingram, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti and multi-instrumentalist Jackie Greene plus special guest guitarist/vocalist Papa Mali. The band played a varied mix of material including Jimmy Cliff’s “Many Rivers To Cross,” Bob Dylan’s “It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry” and the Grateful Dead’s “China Cat Sunflower” within the first set. Saturday’s second set was heavy on Grateful Dead classics such as “Bird Song,” “Bertha,” “Loose Lucy” and “Scarlet Begonias.”
The video below starts with a set from Funky Dawgz Brass Band. Voodoo Dead begins the first set around the 2:00:00 mark and returns for the second set at 4:18:00. Watch pro-shot video of Voodoo Dead’s Saturday show at Ardmore Music Hall thanks to LiquidSilverStream:
