Earlier this month, Umphrey’s McGee returned to Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas on St. Patrick’s Day as part of a series of West Coast dates. The band has recently shared video featuring a highlight from the Sin City smoke show on their YouTube channel.

After opening the second set in Vegas with “Gurgle” > “Speak Up,” Umphrey’s laid into “The Floor.” The six-piece broke through the song’s normal structure and jammed on a trancey chord progression for a few magical moments. Eventually, the band brought down the volume of the transcendent bit of improv to near silence. At that point, guitarist Jake Cinninger and drummer Kris Myers connected on the intro to “I’m On Fire” by Bruce Springsteen.

Brendan Bayliss simulated the vocals on his guitar as UM worked through a stunning instrumental cover of “I’m On Fire.” Without missing a beat, the band moved from the final chord of the Springsteen classic to the spot in “The Floor” where they had left off over ten minutes earlier and went on to complete the song.
