At the end of 2016 Umphrey’s McGee moved their annual New Year’s Run back to Chicago for the first time since 2010. One of the highlights of UM’s three shows in their adopted hometown was the return of a long-lost Rage Against The Machine cover featuring a special guest. Umphrey’s has unveiled pro-shot video of the bust out.
On December 30, UM played their first of two year-ending shows at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom following one night at The Riviera. The band concluded the first set on the 30th with their first take on Rage Against The Machine’s “Bombtrack” since January 29, 2011 – a span of 620 shows. Drummer Kris Myers served as frontman on the cover, so UM enlisted Dave Watts of opening act The Motet to get behind the kit. Umphrey’s McGee returns to the stage on Friday for their first of three shows at The Tabernacle in Atlanta.
