Guitarist Stephen Malkmus will issue the latest Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks album Sparkle Hard on May 18 through Matador Records. Pitchfork TV posted a live solo acoustic session featuring Malkmus performing songs from the forthcoming album and others from prior releases.

Playing an acoustic 12-string guitar, Malkmus incorporated pre-recorded “haunting electronic beats” during the six-song set. The performance included takes on Sparkle Hard tracks “Solid Silk,” “Shiggy,” “Middle America” and “Refute.” He also offered stripped-down arrangements of “Freeze The Saints” off 2005’s Face The Truth and “Trigger Cut” from the 1992 debut Pavement album Slanted and Enchanted.
