Pro-Shot Video: Preservation Hall Jazz Band Full Performance On KEXP

New Orleans ambassadors Preservation Hall Jazz Band released the Cuban-inspired studio album So It Is earlier this year. The group made a number of promotional appearances in support of the LP including an in-studio performance at the gathering space of Seattle radio station KEXP on April 17. Official footage of the session was recently shared by KEXP.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band’s KEXP session features six of the seven songs that appear on So It Is. Bassist Ben Jaffe leads the band on “So It Is” to start ahead of the groovy “Santiago.” The session continues with “Convergence” and “La Malanga” ahead of the set-closing sequence of “One Hundred Fires” and “Mad.” So It Is was inspired by PHJB’s 2015 trip to Cuba and the dynamic music of the country comes through in each track.
