Michigan jamgrass act Greensky Bluegrass are really good at adding their own spin to covers from a diverse batch of artists. One of the group’s most beloved covers is their version of “Atlantic City” by Bruce Springsteen. Professionally-shot video of the “Atlantic City” GSBG laid down at last year’s Northwest String Summit recently surfaced on YouTube thanks to JamGrass TV.
Mandolin wiz Paul Hoffman provides the strong vocals that are at the heart of Greensky’s “Atlantic City.” The cover also thrives from Anders Beck’s contributions on dobro, Dave Bruzza’s backing vocals, Michael Bont’s banjo pluckings and the steady bottom end of Mike Devol’s bass. It’s no wonder the song is in heavy rotation within Greensky Bluegrass setlists.
