The annual DelFest was held last weekend at Allegany County Fairgrounds in Cumberland, Maryland. One of the memorable sets at this year’s festival was a performance that featured hosts joined by a collective of all-star musicians called the Bluegrass Congress. Official video footage from the Bluegrass Congress set has been shared by DelFest organizers.
Prior to releasing the DelFest 2018 lineup, DelFest shared an invitation sent by Del McCoury to a select group of elite bluegrass pickers to participate in the Bluegrass Congress. The group that convened at DelFest on Saturday, May 26 included David Grisman, Ricky Skaggs, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Bryan Sutton and Stuart Duncan along with The Del McCoury Band.
The collective of bluegrass talent performed “White House Blues,” a song recorded by Charlie Poole & The North Carolina Ramblers back in the 1920s. The traditional tune was later recorded by Bill Monroe & His Bluegrass Boys and is often performed by The Del McCoury Band. Watch the Bluegrass Congress convene together below:
