Pro-Shot Video: Andy Frasco & The U.N. Perform ‘Struggle’ Aboard Jam Cruise 16

Andy Frasco and The U.N. won themselves a number of new fans with their zany and high-energy performances aboard Jam Cruise 16 back in January. The band combines upbeat ska-rock and Frasco’s often hilarious banter and witty lyrics. Jam Cruise organizers have started to roll out professionally-shot footage from Jam Cruise 16. The latest clip features Andy Frasco & The U.N.’s performance of “Struggle” from the Pool Deck on January 18.

Frasco conducts the band throughout the nine-minute version of “Struggle” and brought out members of Spoon Fed Tribe to guest on drums. Saxophonist Ernie Chang, who Andy describes as “the sexiest Asian in showbusiness besides the dude from String Cheese,” uncorks a memorable solo within. Yet the version of “Struggle” really hits its stride when the members of The U.N. swap instruments. These guys may win attention for their antics, but they are incredibly talented musicians. At one point drummer Andee Avila uses one hand to solo on Shawn Eckles’ guitar, while using his other hand to hold a bottle of Jameson that band passes around.
