Pro-Shot Full Show Video: Tortoise Performs Tomorrow Never Knows Set In Chicago

By Andy Kahn Jan 12, 2017 8:33 am PST

Chicago-based post-rock outfit Tortoise held a hometown concert last night at Lincoln Hall. The career-spanning Tomorrow Never Knows festival performance was live streamed via Audiotree and Consequence Of Sound.

The instrument swapping group offered several selections from their 2016 studio LP The Catastrophist, including a show opening take on the title track followed by “Shake Hands With Danger.” Later in the set they played “Yonder Blue” and kicked off the encore with The Catastrophist cuts “Gesceap” and “At Odds With Logic.”

Elsewhere in the performance Tortoise offered numerous songs from their 1998 LP TNT and a couple from 2004’s It’s All Around You and 2009’s Beacons of Ancestorship. “Monica” off of 2001’s Standards was played and the show concluded with “Tin Cans & Twine” from their 1994 self-titled debut album.

Tortoise will head out with Thrill Jockey label mates Matmos and Colleen for an East Coast Tour this coming March. For a taste of the Tortoise live show, watch pro-shot footage from Lincoln Hall here:
