It’s hard to believe there’s never been an academic conference focused on Pink Floyd, but that will will finally change next month. Princeton University in New Jersey will host Pink Floyd -Sound, Sight And Structure on Sunday, April 13. The conference will be held in the Taplin Auditorium on the campus of the Ivy League college. While admission is free, you must RSVP via the event’s website.

Princeton composers and Ph.D. Candidates Gilad Cohen and Dave Molk have co-organized the event, which includes such sessions as “Space and Repetition in David Gilmour’s Guitar Solos,” “The Visual Music Of Pink Floyd,” “The Shadow of Yesterday’s Triumph: ‘Shine On You Crazy Diamond’ and the Stage Theory of Grief” and “Past as Material Object in Pink Floyd’s Work.” Pink Floyd producer/engineer James Guthrie will give the keynote speech. On April 11 a screening of The Wall will take place at Taplin Auditorium. A full schedule of events can be found here.
