Prince held a Mother’s Day “Rally 4 Peace” concert yesterday at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore. The concert, held in response to the recent death of Freddie Gray and subsequent protests that engulfed the city, saw Prince and his 3RDEYEGIRL backing band entertain the assembled crowd with many of his hits, while also debuting live his newly penned ode to the city, entitled “Baltimore.”

Attendees were encouraged to wear the color grey and the audience included Baltimore’s State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby who was brought on stage, as well as Questlove, JAY Z, Beyonce and Alicia Keys. Prince welcomed several other guest musicians to the stage, with rapper Doug E. Fresh and vocalists Miguel and Estelle helping out during the concert. The over two-hour long concert was live streamed for free on the new TIDAL platform.

Prince reportedly told the crowd, “The system is broken. It’s up to you young folks to fix it.” He also reportedly told those gathered in the 14,000 seat capacity arena, “To those who have lost loved one, we are your servants tonight, we’re here for you. They said there wasn’t no curfew, so I don’t know how this is gonna go.”
