Primus Primes 2024 New Year’s Eve Run At Oakland’s Fox Theater
A tradition continues in the Bay Area on December 30 and 31.

Les Claypool played New Year’s Eve concerts with his myriad projects including Primus every year in the Bay Area from 1992 – 2019 and revived the tradition in 2022 and 2023. This December, Primus will ring in 2025 with a two-night The NYE Fisherman’s Chronicles Costume Ball Run at The Fox Theater in Oakland.
Primus launched the tradition on December 31, 1992 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. The trio’s last New Year’s Eve show came at the Fox in 2017. Primus held down the tradition from 1993 – 1999 before Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade took over between 2000 – 2004. Les Claypool used his own name for December 31st performances spanning 2005 – 2009. Primus returned to the slot at the Fox in 2010 and continued to end the year with concerts through 2017.

The Claypool Lennon Delirium performed on NYE 2018 and 2019. Then, after the pandemic, Les Claypool’s Bastard Jazz took the stage on December 31st in 2022 and 2023.
Limbomaniacs open for Primus on the 30th with Beanpole supporting on New Year’s Eve. Fans as invited to “come dressed as your favorite seafaring representative! Be it some freakish scaly bastard siren or banshee or a brave soul who rides the tides a master of the sea!”
Tickets for Primus at Oakland’s Fox Theater on December 30 and 31, 2024 go on sale this Friday, September 13 at 10 a.m. PT.
