Watch Post Malone Cover Black Sabbath & Alice In Chains With Slash, Chad Smith & Others
Post Malone performed a set that aired on New Year’s Eve and ended with Posty joined by an all-star band for a pair of classic rock covers as his “encores.” Malone led a group featuring members of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane’s Addiction and more on Alice In Chains’ “Rooster” and Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” to end the Bud Light Seltzer Sessions Presents: New Years Eve 2021 livestream special.
“Rooster” featured Post Malone on lead vocals, Andrew Watt on guitar, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers on drums and Janes Addiction bassist Chris Chaney. Malone did a fantastic job of channeling the late Layne Staley on the song Alice In Chains originally released on their 1992 studio album, Dirt.
The same lineup was augmented by Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash for a 10-minute version of “War Pigs.” Slash and Watt went toe-to-toe on the first of two extended jams in the middle of a song Black Sabbath issued on as the opening track of Paranoid in 1970. Post Malone strapped on a guitar to add to the fretboard fireworks towards the end of “War Pigs.”
