Acclaimed bassist Pino Palladino and multi-instrumentalist/producer Blake Mills star in the latest installment of NPR Music’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert video series. The pair teamed with two other musicians for performances of three songs from their collaborative Notes With Attachments album.
Palladino, Mills, saxophonist Sam Gendel and percussionist Abe Rounds start the session with Notes With Attachments opener “Just Wrong.” The song was also the lead single from an album that came out through New Deal/Impulse! back on March 12. Blake plays guitarist throughout the set

“We’re all very excited to do the Tiny Desk Concert and we hope you enjoy the music,” Palladino exclaims following the first song. The bassist then kicks into Notes With Attachments single “Ekuté.” Gendel adds authoritative blasts into the mix as the quartet runs through the West African music-inspired number. The last eight minutes of the set are devoted to “Djurkel,” a song which shares its name with a one-stringed African instrument.
