Phoenix Performs ‘Tonight’ Featuring Ezra Koenig On ‘Colbert’

Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig contributed to the studio version featured on ‘Alpha Zulu.’

Phoenix was joined by Vampire Weekend‘s Ezra Koenig remotely for a performance of “Tonight” featured on Wednesday’s episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The recently released single featuring Koenig appears on the French band’s upcoming album, Alpha Zulu.

Alpha Zulu, which marks the first new Phoenix album in five years, is due out via Loyaute/Glassnote on November 4. The band consisting of singer Thomas Mars, bassist Deck d’Arcy, guitarist/keyboardist Laurent “Branco” Brancowitz and guitarist Christian Mazzalai self-produced the 10-track follow-up to 2017’s Ti Amo.

Phoenix had never been joined by another vocalist until “Tonight.” Koenig duets with Mars on the studio track and the version of Colbert saw Ezra team with the band using footage from the song’s video. Watch how it went:
