Phoenix are back with new single “Alpha Zulu.” The disco-tinged track marks the first new music from the French band since 2020.

The group led by Thomas Mars are hard at work on their long-awaited follow-up to 2017’s Ti Amo. More recently, Phoenix unveiled “Identical” on the soundtrack for the 2020 film On The Rocks. The movie was directed by Mars’ wife, Sofia Coppola.

Mars was inspired to pen “Alpha Zulu” by a term he “heard a pilot repeat over the radio during a turbulent flight in a storm,” as per a press release. “The urgency of the phrase stayed with him, and the band’s new song was born.”
