Phish will release an official audio recording of their May 16, 1994 show at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theatre for downloading and streaming via LivePhish.com this Friday, March 21. Proceeds will benefit communities affected by the recent and devasting Los Angeles wildfires.

The show was the band’s lone appearance at the historic venue on the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue. Phish was in the midst of an extensive spring tour and had spent the past fall in the area recording their fifth studio album, Hoist, which was released on March 29, 1994.

The second set was a wild affair that saw the quartet work “Big Black Furry Creature From Mars” within “Run Like An Antelope” after opening the frame with “Also Sprach Zarathustra,” aka “2001.” Phish twice reprised “Big Black Furry Creature From Mars” as they spread out its three verses. The first set was highlighted by a jam chart-worthy “Stash.”

While the “Run Like An Antelope” > “Big Black Furry Creature From Mars” > “Run Like An Antelope” sequence was originally shared in 2012 as part of Live Bait Vol. 8, the forthcoming release will give fans a chance to hear remastered audio of the entire show. Phish archivist Kevin Shapiro previewed the set on the latest episode of From The Archives on SiriusXM’s Phish Radio, which premiered on Monday. Replays will follow throughout the week.

Phish will return to Los Angeles for a three-night stand at the famed Hollywood Bowl April 25 – 27. The band previously announced they will commemorate the Hollywood Bowl run by donating $300,000 to help support relief and rebuilding efforts for Southern California communities affected by the wildfires through their The WaterWheel Foundation non-profit organization.
