Phish unveiled professionally-shot video featuring the standout “Free” from The Wharf Amphitheater. The 11-minute version of the Billy Breathes classic closed out the quartet’s first set on Saturday, May 28 during Phish’s second of three nights at the venue in Orange Beach, Alabama.
“Free” started in standard form before guitarist Trey Anastasio put a distorted auto-wah tone to good use. Keyboardist Page McConnell hopped on synth for the wild jam while bassist Mike Gordon utilized a synth tone of his own.
Phish worked over the bombastic groove for a few minutes with each member adding to the mix equally. Then, Anastasio took control and shredded a solo as the band returned to the main “Free” theme to close out the song.
