Phish Archivist Kevin Shapiro

With Phish’s Summer Tour proper coming to an end this weekend at the Magnaball festival (they still have shows set for Labor Day Weekend at Dick’s) we have one more essential Twitter account to feature for fans of the band: Phish archivist Kevin Shapiro – @shapsio. Like our previous two Phish Tour-centric Follow Friday selections – @bizarchive and @secretcabdriver – Kevin’s account is filled with plenty of deep knowledge about the foursome from Vermont.

Shapiro is perhaps best known by Phish fans for the From The Archives shows he hosts at Phish’s festivals on the events’ radio stations. Part of Shapiro’s M.O. on Twitter is to tweet a daily historical recap of past Phish-related events on that date.

Let’s take a look at his “Today In Phish History” tweets from August:

When not tweeting TIPH updates, Kevin is also the drummer in Dub Is Dead with keyboardist Ray Paczkowski, bassist Nick DeNoia,  drummer Trevor Ainsworth, guitarist Rudy Dauth and DJ Nickel B on effects and samples. Tune into The Bunny tomorrow at Sunday at 3 p.m. ET to hear Kevin’s final From The Archives installment at Magnaball.
