Ed Sheeran, Beyonce and Coldplay will also headline the free event in Central Park’s Great Lawn. This year’s Global Citizen Festival is the fourth annual concert put on by Global Citizen as part of the organization’s campaign to end extreme poverty by 2030. Those hoping to score a free ticket should visit GlobalCitizen.org to take part in initiatives to help end poverty including raising awareness through social media, attending charity events and signing petitions. Free tickets will be given to some of those who participate.
“We hope Pearl Jam fans will sign up to become Global Citizens – not just to earn tickets to the show – but to be part of a movement that encourages leaders of nations with the greatest wealth to apply aid, trade and governance policies in support of nations and communities in the greatest need,” said Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard. “People living on less $1.50-a-day deserve the opportunity to lift themselves up out of extreme poverty.”
