Famed singer-songwriter Paul Simon will release a studio album entitled In The Blue Light via Legacy Recordings on September 7. The record features new interpretations of ten “personal favorites” from the New York City native’s back catalog. Simon shared the LP’s lead track, “One Man’s Ceiling Is Another Man’s Floor.”
Paul Simon originally recorded “One Man’s Ceiling Is Another Man’s Floor” for 1973’s There Goes Rhymin’ Simon. The new version is more melancholy but isn’t too far removed from the 1973 rendition. “This album consists of songs that I thought were almost right, or were odd enough to be overlooked the first time around. Re-doing arrangements, harmonic structures, and lyrics that didn’t make their meaning clear, gave me time to clarify in my own head what I wanted to say, or realize what I was thinking and make it more easily understood,” Simon explained of the LP in a press release.
