Livetronica quintet Papadosio released the bombastic new single “Zoom Out” today. The Asheville, North Carolina-based five-piece put out the song on the heels of August’s “Not Just A Word,” their first original studio track since 2020.
Papadosio previously focused on instrumental music over the past four years. The band hadn’t issued material with vocals dating back to 2018’s Content Coma until “Zoom Out” and “Not Just A Word” arrived. Producer/guitarist/vocalist Anthony Thogmartin stars on “Zoom Out” with brothers Sam and Billy Brouse providing multiple layers of synthesizers infused throughout the track. The rhythm section of drummer Mike Healy and bassist Rob McConnell groove in lockstep using both analog and digital instruments.
Anthony Thogmartin contrasts the micro and macro viewpoints on our existence within the “Zoom Out” lyrics. “It has always fascinated me how so much is occurring simultaneously on this planet,” noted Thogmartin. “Each one of our unique perspectives are vastly smaller in scope than the sum total of things that can be witnessed. The magnitude of activity on earth is staggering, but it is paradoxically eclipsed by the fact that we all exist on an obscure small planet on the edge of an obscure galaxy.”
