Papadosio today unveiled the new studio single “Not Just A Word.” The song marks the band’s first original single since their Microdosio album arrived in 2020. “Not Just A Word” is also the first Papadosio track to incorporate vocals in five years.
Guitarist/producer Anthony Thogmartin, bassist Rob McConnell, drummer Mike Healy and keyboardist/vocalists/multi-instrumentalists Sam Brouse and Billy Brouse are now based in Asheville, North Carolina and spent parts of the time off the road due to the pandemic creating new music. “Not Just A Word” is the first taste of the new material Papadosio recorded in the studio over the past few years.
Thogmartin was inspired by his newfound fatherhood to write “Not Just A Word.” Anthony shared the following in regards to the song:
“‘Not Just a Word’ is indeed a love song, but not in the traditional sense. Contrary to the prevailing sense of romantic love, NJAW provides a counter narrative to the self centered and self serving lens we view love from in popular culture.
“From the perspective of a new father (water seeds and watch them grow) the self diminishes and what is there instead is an overwhelming sense of service and patience. From the perspective of a new romantic relationship (all in time, can’t make it happen any faster) tells the non-intuitive tale of how any lasting romance thrives in a space where it isn’t forced.”
