Osiris DelFest InnerViews: Del McCoury, Billy Strings, Kyle Hollingsworth & More

Members of the Osiris Team headed to DelFest over Memorial Day Weekend and spoke with a number of performers at the event for their InnerViews video series. This week’s Sunday Cinema features a playlist of the Osiris InnerViews filmed at DelFest, which took place at Allegany County Fairgrounds in Cumberland, Maryland May 23 – 26.
The first of the chats features guitarist Billy Strings. Billy discusses his meteoric rise, what DelFest means to him and more. Next, festival founder Del McCoury and his grandson Heaven McCoury talk about a number of topics including the event, DelFest’s Academy and Del’s performance with Phish. Up-and-comers The Broomestix then explain the genesis of their band, performing at DelFest, the future of bluegrass and more.
Mandolinist Sierra Hull‘s InnerView covers such ground as what she loves about DelFest, recruiting guitarist Mike Bono for her set at the festival and attending Berklee School Of Music, among other topics. The next interview features The String Cheese Incident keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth. Kyle discusses his appreciation for the community that formed around DelFest, his enjoyment of performing outside in the summer time, SCI’s Red Rocks debut, the reasoning behind the band’s hiatus and more.
Then, Adam Aijala of Yonder Mountain String Band talks about such topics as the influence of Del McCoury, new material the band is working on and his early days playing guitar. Finally, Ronnie McCoury and Alan Bartram of The Travelin’ McCourys share their favorite moments of the festival, recall Ronnie’s discovery of Jerry Garcia and David Grisman through Old & In The Way and his meetings with the Grateful Dead guitarist plus more.
