Old Crow Medicine Show tapped Molly Tuttle for their latest single, “Bombs Away,” which appears on the band’s upcoming new album, Paint This Town. The single arrived with an official live performance video featuring Tuttle on banjo.

Premiered by Consequence Of Sound, “Bombs Away” is one of 12 songs on the band’s seventh studio album set for release on April 22 through ATO Records. Ketch Secor, Morgan Jahnig, Cory Younts, Jerry Pentecost, Mike Harris and Mason Via recorded the follow-up to OCMS’s 2018 album Volunteer at the band’s Hartland Studio in East Nashville.

Secor detailed the inspiration behind “Bombs Away,” which was informed by the ending of his marriage, telling CoS:

“I wrote ‘Bombs Away’ the winter before COVID, (remember before COVID?) when I was an artist in residence at Sewanee: The University of The South, an hour southeast of Nashville. I was doing a lot of writing then, and some soul searching. I liked being on the campus of a college, having never lived on a college campus before. What I liked most was the energy of the students all buzzing around going to classes and really wanting to learn and grow. The whole place just felt so optimistic, and ‘Bombs Away’ jumps with a similar energy. It’s upbeat and optimistic, which is ironic because it’s a song about getting divorced.”
