Legendary guitarist Eric Clapton will soon release a new live album that collects live performances from his Crossroads Guitar Festivals. The three-CD set Crossroads Revisited: Selections From The Crossroads Guitar Festival will be available physically and digitally on July 1 from Rhino Records. Clapton recently shared incredible hi-def video of one of the highlights from the set.
In 2010 Toyota Park near Chicago hosted the Crossroads Guitar Festival and one of the main acts was the Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi Band, a precursor to the Tedeschi Trucks Band that would form soon thereafter. Derek and Susan’s set included a powerful version of “Space Captain,” a song popularized by Joe Cocker. The husband and wife duo, whose band at the time included Oteil Burbridge on bass, were joined by a bevy of guests as Warren Haynes added to “Space Captain” as did famed keyboardist Chris Stainton and David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos. Take a look:
Clapton hosted the tri-annual Crossroads Guitar Festival in order to raise money his Crossroads Centre treatment and education facility located in Antigua, which he founded in 1998. Crossroads Centre works to help those battling chemical dependency and addiction.
