FireAid benefit concerts supporting Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts were held at the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum last night. An all-star lineup of musicians came together to perform at the two L.A. area venues, with an unannounced reunion of the surviving members of Nirvana among the evening’s many highlights.
The participation of the surviving members of Nirvana – drummer Dave Grohl, bassist Krist Novoselic and guitarist Pat Smear – was not part of the pre-show lineup announcement. As they have before, standing in for late frontman Kurt Cobain at The Forum included St. Vincent, Kim Gordon and Joan Jett.
St. Vincent led a performance of “Breed,” followed by Gordon taking lead on “School” and Jett fronting “Territorial Pissings.” Grohl’s daughter Violet Grohl also participated in the reunion, singing lead on “All Apologies” with Gordon playing guitar.
