Nicki Bluhm unveiled “Buon Natale,” an original Christmas song that will be featured on an upcoming limited-edition EP that will only be available at her holiday tour dates and via Compass Records and her website on November 22. The EP will feature a mix of original and traditional Christmas songs.
Bluhm wrote “Buon Natale” with A.J. Croce and recorded the track at Ken Coomer’s studio Cartoon Moon in Nashville. The track features Nicki, A.J., Leroy Powell, Richard Millsap and Jesse Noah Wilson. “I asked A.J. if he wanted to try and write a Christmas song, and we both agreed that a loungy Dean Martin vibe was the direction we’d like to go in. We’re also both Italian so I thought it would be sweet to write about Christmas in Italy,” said Bluhm in a statement.
“A.J. and I had the great pleasure of traveling to Europe together this year to play music and discovered our mutual love of travel and experiencing other cultures so it felt natural to honor the place that our families both came from,” added Nicki. “To me, the spirit of the holidays begins with a song. Growing up, what made my family unit strong was having shared traditions. During the holidays we always listened to the same Christmas albums and to this day I still listen to those records and they always bring me home, no matter where I am.”
