New Festival Alert | The Hudson Project
Last month we reported on a new music festival that was being planned for Winston Farm in Saugerties, NY -the site of Woodstock ’94. This morning MCP Presents and SFX Entertainment have officially announced the newest entry to the festival landscape –The Hudson Project.
The Hudson Project will bring 85 acts from a variety of genres to four stages set against the backdrop of the scenic Catskill Mountains from July 11 -13. In addition to the music, the inaugural Hudson Project will feature a fifth interactive performance area at the center of the site highlighting local musical acts and performance artists/troupes; an art village showcasing interactive art exhibitions, regional arts and crafts; a selection of Hudson Valley-area gourmet food, wine, craft beer and specialty cocktail options; a wide range of camping choices from top level luxury accommodations, to pre-set tents with bedding, to DIY choices for the more adventurous attendees. Event organizers have planned a number of transportation options including shuttle services from NYC and other nearby major metropolitan areas as well as local shuttles from nearby train stations.
More details about the first-ever The Hudson Project -including the lineup and ticketing information -will be revealed in the coming weeks. “Our goal with The Hudson Project was the creation of a music and arts festival that also highlighted the beautiful area where the modern music festival genre was born,” said Brett Keber, Co-Founder/Producer of MCP Presents, in a statement announcing the event. “By offering camping with a genre diverse lineup ranging from Rock to Pop, Hip Hop to Electronic and more, we’re hoping to offer a great local option in the U.S. festival market.”
One of the founders of the original Woodstock festival, Michael Lang, will represent the landowners, who have shared their site with the event’s organizers. “I’m very excited to be bringing live music events back to the Winston Farms and the Saugerties & Woodstock area,” Lang said. “It was always my intention to make a permanent venue at the farm after the ’94 festival and it’s finally coming to fruition. The Hudson Project will be a wonderful addition to the valley.”
So while Camp Bisco is on hiatus in 2014, both the band (who will perform with Mickey Hart & Bill Kreutzmann at Gathering Of The Vibes) and event organizer MCP Presents (who are putting together The Hudson Project with SFX Entertainment) will keep themselves busy this festival season. We’ll be sure to keep you posted when more details are announced.
