The Nels Cline 4 Shares Official Video For ‘Swing Ghost ’59’

As previously reported, on April 13, Wilco guitarist Nels Cline will release a Currents, Constellations with his aptly named side-project The Nels Cline 4 via Blue Note Records. The quartet finds Cline joined by guitarist Julian Lage, drummer Tom Rainey and bassist Scott Colley.
The band has now shared their second preview of the eight-track album with the video for “Swing Ghost ’59.” Cline describes the track as “a musical conflict between swung and even eighth notes,” going on to say “its whimsical premise is the eventual demise of ‘swing’ time in popular music as ‘straight’ time became the order of the day. Each time swing is assayed in the piece it is overtaken — if not out-and-out demolished — by straight time.”
