Neil Young & Promise Of The Real Welcome Willie Nelson For Third Show In A Row

At Neil Young & Promise Of The Real’s first show of 2016 back in April, the band was joined by the legendary Willie Nelson in Texas. Nelson reprised the feat on Friday night in Rome, did so once again on Saturday in Lucca and shared the stage with the band for a third time on Monday in Milan. Willie came out towards the middle of the show to sit-in with Neil & POTR, which features his sons Lukas Nelson and Micah Nelson, on two songs at Estathe Market Sound and then returned for the encore.

Willie Nelson emerged 10 songs into the set to lend a hand on “Are There Any More Real Cowboys” and then led the group through their third-ever take on The Red Headed Stranger’s “On The Road Again.” Both of Willie’s mid-set guest spots came after his son Lukas fronted the ensemble on another version of the Italian classic “Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu,” aka “Volare.” The country legend returned for the encore to duet with Neil on the American Stars ‘N Bars nugget “Homegrown” which just the second time the song has been played by Neil Young & Promise Of The Real. Young & POTR’s 25-song performance also included “Old Man, “Cowgirl In The Sand,” Vampire Blues,” “Revolution Blues” and plenty of other Neil classics. The tour now moves on to Germany with a show in Leipzig on Wednesday the first stop.
