Neil Young Plays ‘Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black)’ For 2nd Time With POTR

Last night Neil Young and Promise of The Real brought their Rebel Content Tour to Boise, Idaho for a performance at Outlaw Field at the Idaho Botanical Garden. In addition to renditions of a handful of recently debuted new songs, last night’s concert also saw just the second performance with POTR of one of the Canadian rocker’s classic songs.

Young as usual started the show off playing a batch of solo acoustic songs, leading with “After The Gold Rush” and “Heart of Gold.” Once joined by Promise Of The Real among the songs he played were the new tunes tentatively being called “Hang Gliders,” “Show Me,” “Texas Rangers,” and “Peace Trail.” The recently shared single “Indian Givers” was also incorporated into last night’s setlist.

Toward the end of the main set Monday night Young offered just the second rendition while backed by Promise Of The Real of his anthem “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black),” having only played it together once before in July in Italy. The Boise performance of track off 1979’s Rust Never Sleeps was also the first in the United States by Young since his December 6, 2012 concert in Atlantic City with Crazy Horse which Trey Anastasio opened.
