Neil Young performed a solo set at the inaugural benefit concert Harvest Moon A Gathering at the Painted Turtle camp in Lake Hughes, California near Los Angeles on Saturday. The singer-songwriter legend would welcome pianist Norah Jones to close out his set as well as on the encore and would dust off “New Mama” for the first time in over 40 years.
Young opened with “Sugar Mountain” followed by “I Am A Child,” “Comes A Time,” “Heart Of Gold” and “Old Man.” Neil continued with “Rainbow Of Colors,” “I Do,” “Eternity” and “Green Is Blue” ahead of “Only Love Can Break Your Heart,” “Tell Me Why” and “War Of Man.” Young would then play the Tonight’s The Night track “New Mama” for the first time since 1977. Neil then welcomed Jones and others including her Puss N’ Boots band mate Shasha Dobson for “Harvest Moon.” Jones also participated in “The Losing End” encore.
